I have lived here my entire life and just recently I had an experience in Old Town, Homer where I was almost run over while walking across West Bunnell Avenue. I looked both ways and observed a car stopped at the stop sign 70 yards away at the Main Street intersection.
I believed I had enough time to cross the street as the car was stopped. However, the car accelerated to a speed that almost hit me.
The speed limit in Old Town is 25 mph; this car was probably doing the speed limit. I believe the speed limit should be reduced to a safe speed — 25 mph is too fast. I realize that this is a process, but in the meantime folks should slow down before someone gets hurt or killed.
