We would like to compliment reporter, Anna Frost, on her well-written, thoughtful and honest account of our family story of addiction. We would like to thank the Homer News for addressing the heroin problem and substance abuse issues that have touched so many people in the Homer community. Our story is one of grief, sorrow, isolation and hope. Our hope is that others will not feel alone due to stigma and shame.

Extra, extra love to our oldest daughter who has been an integral part of this story in her own quiet way and with her, our family remained strong amongst our brokenness.  She’s had to be an adult much younger than we would have wished as the sister’s journey through addiction has its own difficult road to travel.
