A Seldovia man was found dead in his sunken vehicle on Wednesday, April 2.
According to an Alaska State Troopers release, on March 31 at 8:30 p.m., the Seldovia VPSO notified troopers that 83-year-old Seldovia resident Roger Wallin Sr. was missing. The VPSO and Seldovia residents began searching the community for Wallin. On April 1, search team members located a vehicle that appeared to be Wallin’s submerged in approximately 30 feet of water near the Seldovia pier. Troopers deployed a dive team to Seldovia to determine if Wallin was in the submerged vehicle.
On April 2, volunteers from the Alaska Dive Search, Rescue, and Recovery team were able to dive and inspect the submerged vehicle. They located Wallin Sr., dead, inside it. According to the press release, next of kin have been notified and efforts to recover the vehicle are ongoing.
