The U.S. Department of Agriculture-Rural Development has awarded a $4,179,525 grant for construction of a water storage tank and water treatment plant in Seldovia. It was one of 11 grants announced Nov. 13 by Jim Nordlund, the department’s Alaska director, to help rural villages across the state finance water system upgrades and improve the quality of life for residents.
“These awards will dramatically improve living conditions for residents of these predominantly Native rural Alaska villages,” said Nordlund. “They will enable residents to have safe, modern water and sanitation systems.”
The grants provide $27.7 million through the department’s Rural Alaska Village grant program.
