The name of our citizen’s commission should be a cannabis commission, not a marijuana commission. The word marijuana is a Mexican slang word. Using the word marijuana is similar in tone to calling alcohol “booze” or “hooch.” We should name this commission respectfully and correctly by the true name of the plant, cannabis. 

Regarding whether Police Chief Mark Robl serves on this commission: I have applied to serve on this commission. If Chief Robl cannot serve on the commission due to conflict of interest, I would recommend that the commission consult Chief Robl regularly, and invite him to meet with us as a respected speaker.  We would benefit from his knowledge and experience regarding cannabis law.
