While much of the airways and newspapers focus on the national debate and election, let’s remember our local election day is Tuesday, Oct. 4. A variety of important and serious issues will be on the ballot for your consideration.

For instance, I have been involved in planning for a new police station for Homer. Proposition 1 is a cost effective proposal to replace Homer’s old and obsolete police station for the long-term wellbeing of Homer’s quality public safety services. You can learn more about the need and the plan for moving forward at cityofhomer-ak or take a station tour on Sept. 29 or Oct. 1.

Let’s make Tuesday, Oct. 4, the best voter turnout day in history. Take advantage of early voting and avoid the crowds on election day. Wear your “I Voted” sticker proudly.
