Back-to-school preparation begins now, and an important part of that is making sure your child’s health is in tip-top shape for the busy year ahead.

It is important for parents and guardians to know about the following requirements of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District: An Entrance Physical Exam is required for all kindergarten and new students. A Sports Physical is required for all high school athletes. TDAP vaccinations are required for all 11 and 12 year olds.

Any of these can be included in your child’s annual wellness exam which is  covered by insurance, or conducted as an independent exam. Homer Medical Center, SVT Health and Wellness and Kachemak Bay Medical all offer these services, and some are open evenings and weekends for your convenience.   

Remember to take your vaccination records with you to your appointment.
