A short section of Kachemak Drive will be closed to through traffic from 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Sept. 3. The Alaska Department of Transportation will be repairing a stretch of road along Kachemak Drive on the west end about a half-mile from the Homer Spit intersection. Work will continue on Sept. 4 with one-lane traffic, so expect short delays and flagger operations. Drivers will not be able to access the old airport and air taxi operations from the Spit side and will have to use the east end of Kachemak Drive at East End Road.
“The department appreciates your patience while we complete this project,” said airport manager Kevin Jones. For more information, call the Department of Transportation at 235-5217.
