An outage on Saturday cut power for almost 12 hours to 189 Homer Electric Association members in Seldovia, Port Graham and Nanwalek.
According to an HEA press release, power went off at 2:06 a.m. Jan. 13 and was restored by 1:45 p.m. HEA crews flew over the line and started restoration work that morning. They found an open recloser, a protection device on a power line that isolates a fault much like a circuit breaker, according to HEA Spokesperson Melissa Carlin. Crews did not find a cause for the outage, however.
Outages can be reported at 1-888-868-8243 (1-888-8OUTAGE). Real time outage reports also are posted on the HEA Facebook page.
Additionally, HEA plans maintenance work over the next two months in the EastEnd Road and Fox River areas of Homer. Crews will install new fuses along the power line to improve the reliability of service, HEA said in a press release.
The rolling outages will run from Jan. 16 to March 15. HEA suggested protecting sensitive electronic equipment in homes and businesses during the short outages.
