While walking on the “pedestrian area” of Bishop’s Beach on Sunday, I spoke with several people who were parked in the protected berm area. Most said that they were unaware of the restriction and just thought me a cranky old codger. The only folks who actually paid attention were a few kids in a truck who questioned my intent, listened to the rationale, then turned around and left the berm. Thanks, guys, it’s appreciated.
Those signs are there for a reason. Please, folks, if you don’t want to walk, turn right, only, and allow the berm area to reestablish itself and do what it does best: protect the slough from storm surf (and allow old men and old dogs an area away from vehicle traffic).
