Snagging opens at noon Friday at the NickDudiak Fishing Lagoon and adjacent water on the Homer Spit. It ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 16. The snagging area excludes the Homer Boat Harbor.
According to an Alaska Department of Fish and Game notice, the areas open to snagging include the Nick Dudiak Fishing Lagoon and the waters from the Homer City Dock (near the entrance to the Homer Boat Harbor) northwest along the east side of the Homer Spit to an Alaska Department of Fish and Game marker located approximately 200 yards northwest of the entrance to the Lagoon, and out 300 feet from the shore. The waters open to snagging do not include the Boat Harbor.
All other regulations remain in effect. This includes the bag limit and possession limit of two king salmon of any size. Anglers are reminded there is an annual limit of five king salmon 20 inches or longer, and after harvesting a king salmon 20 inches or longer, the harvest must immediately be recorded in ink on the back of the license or on a harvest record card. A harvested fish counts toward the bag limit of the person originally hooking it.
