Man killed in Tuesday crash

Single-vehicle crash on Sterling Highway killed Drew Brown, 25, after he was thrown from truck.

A 25-year-old Homer man died in a single-vehicle car crash late Tuesday after being ejected from a truck. Homer Police identified the victim as Drew Brown.

According to a Homer Police press release, police at about 10 p.m. received multiple 911 calls that the driver of a GMC pickup truck had lost control on the Sterling Highway near Crittenden Drive. The truck left the road and hit a power pole and light pole. Police said roads were very slippery at the time.

Police said there were four people in the truck: Brown, two 19-year-old men and a 19-year-old woman. Another person also was thrown from the truck. None of the other people involved suffered life-threatening injuries. Police have not yet identified the driver.

Homer Police and Homer Volunteer Fire Department crews responded to the crash scene. An ambulance took Brown to South Peninsula Hospital, and he died of his injuries about 3 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22.

Police have not released any other details regarding the crash, and the incident remains under investigation.
