Radio personality Chris Story, left, does his weekly Tuesday afternoon show, Alaska Matters, in a special broadcast at the WKFL Park bathrooms. Musician Robert Toner, right, also performed on the show. Story did a commentary criticizing the expensive bathrooms.
The city built four new restroom buildings on the Homer Spit and Pioneer Avenue using cruise-ship head-tax funds for a total of $950,000. The buildings cost between $190,000 and $350,000 each. There are two new restroom buildings with two bathrooms each in downtown Homer, one at WKFL Park and one on West Pioneer Avenue near Bartlett Street. One bathroom in each unit is open for winter use.
