KETCHIKAN— The Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly has postponed a vote on a proposed ban on commercial marijuana.

The Ketchikan Daily News reports assembly members on Monday voted to take a wait-and-see approach to commercial marijuana until April, after the close of the legislative session.

Recreational marijuana becomes legalized this month under a ballot initiative approved by voters in November.

Ballot Measure 2 decriminalizes the possession, use and nonsale transfer of up to an ounce of marijuana when the new law takes effect Feb. 24. The initiative also set in motion the legalization and permitting of marijuana sales.
