Kenai man dead after weekend collision

The crash took place at the intersection of Treasure Chest Street and the Kenai Spur Highway

A 31-year-old Kenai resident died Saturday in a vehicle collision near Nikiski at the intersection of Treasure Chest Street and the Kenai Spur Highway.

A dispatch from Alaska State Troopers says that around noon on Saturday, July 20, they were called to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection. Troopers write that Conner Christoffersen was driving south on the highway toward Kenai when he tried to pass on the right another vehicle turning left onto Treasure Chest Street.

Christoffersen lost control of his vehicle, the dispatch says, and crossed into the oncoming northbound lane where he was struck by another vehicle. He was found dead at the scene.
