We want to thank the community and all our long-time customers and friends who have supported Picture Alaska art gallery and The Upstairs Boutique for so very long. My husband and I opened Picture Alaska more than 24 years ago and The Upstairs Boutique 16 years ago. It has been a fun and challenging venture bringing art and fashion to Homer. We can say that the store has had a good run, but it is time now to slow down a little and make some hard choices. It’s with tears of both sadness and joy that I announce the closure and liquidation of the entire store.
But I’m not going away, just changing gears. Once the store is liquidated, I will continue to operate Homer Art & Frame where I will focus on art supplies, custom framing and developing my own art, which has been “on the back burner” for way too long. That had once been my fantasy — to become an “artist” — so now, after all these years, I better get on with it.
Again, thank you all. I have no idea how long closing the store will take, but hope that we have the opportunity to thank each of you personally.
