Young people interested in pursuing nursing as a career have the chance to benefit from a new scholarship through the Homer Foundation.
The foundation announced in a press release this month that it has created a new scholarship fund, called a field of interest fund. The Nursing Studies Scholarship Fund will provide yearly scholarships of about $1,500 to Homer High School graduates who plan to pursue a career in nursing, according to the release.
A donation from community member Steve Albert is what helped establish the fund. According to the release, Albert’s late wife and current wife were nurses.
All Homer High graduates up to age 25 are eligible to apply for the scholarships.
“We’re thankful for the generosity of Mr. Albert in establishing this fund,” a foundation representative is quoted as saying in the release.
People who are interested can find the application for the scholarship on the Homer Foundation website at homerfoundation.org. Applications will be accepted until April 9.
