Homer Animal Friends would like to extend a big thank you to Maggie Alston and Kendra Raymond. They raised $452 selling candy canes.
Maggie Alston wanted to help the pets at the Homer Animal Shelter. She developed an idea to sell candy canes to her fellow students and teachers to help with the cost of spaying and neutering adopted animals. The money raised from the candy cane sale will be donated to Homer Animal Friends, a nonprofit that supports the shelter animals by reducing the cost of spaying and neutering when they are adopted. Maggie came up with this idea after spending most of her summer at the animal shelter walking and playing with the cats and dogs.
Maggie and Kendra are seventh-grade students at Homer Middle School.
Thanks again, Maggie and Kendra, this will help a lot of animals.
