Longtime Homer gardener Steven Veldstra is the new owner of the Wagon Wheel at 1506 Ocean Drive.

Veldstra, who was 14 when he started, worked at the Wagon Wheel for 15 years. He then started and grew the Dutch Boy Landscaping business for 19 years.  After selling Dutch Boy Landscaping, he and his family moved to the Philippines and worked in sustainable tropical agriculture. 

He has come full circle and now can be found again at the Wagon Wheel hauling feed and garden soils to customers’ vehicles.

His plan is to continue Wagon Wheel’s legacy of providing Homer with gardening and back-yard farming supplies and advice.

Barbara Walker, the previous owner, has not gone away and is available for answering questions about gardening, chickens and pets.
