Two fishermen in Seldovia at about 8:30 a.m. last Saturday reported finding a body on Backer’s Island, a small island at the mouth of Seldovia Slough. 

According to a press release from Seldovia Police Chief Hal Henning, the men called 911 and said the man was not breathing. Seldovia Emergency Medical Services responded and determined the man had died. Henning identified the victim as Troy D. Fisher, 47, of Grand Junction, Colo. Fisher was working temporarily in the area, Henning said in the release. The body was taken to the Alaska State Medical Examiner in Anchorage for an autopsy. The incident remains under investigation.
