As of earlier this week, Michael Simonsen remained the leader in Homer’s Jackpot Halibut Derby with the 137.2-pound halibut he hauled in May 23. Simonsen was fishing aboard the Obsession with Capt. Richard Baltzer of North Country Charters. The winner of the June 15 released fish drawing is Trevyn Day, who won $500 for releasing a halibut longer than 48 inches.-Photo provided
