The U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment’s Homer office will host a Commercial Fishing Vessel Industry Day March 20.
The event will be from 12:30-4 p.m. at Pioneer Hall of Kachemak Bay Campus, 533 E. Pioneer Ave.
There will be a presentation regarding changes to commercial fishing vessel safety requirements including mandatory exams for fishing vessels that operate 3 nautical miles beyond the territorial baseline. Other topics to be covered include applicability of mandatory exams, net tonnage, new vessel construction requirements, updated safety equipment requirements and updated boundary lines.
After the presentation, U.S Coast Guard Examiners will be onsite to answer any questions.
