Boisterous bay

A winter storm combined with a 20.7-foot high tide hammered the north shore of Kachemak Bay last Thursday.

Rollers 10-feet and more pounded the Homer Spit, throwing up spray and debris onto the Homer Spit Road.

Waves also slammed the Ocean Drive Loop seawall, sometimes sending up towers of spray as tall as spruce trees. There also were reports of erosion at boardwalks.

The pounding waves drew visitors to Mariner Park and Ocean Drive Loop to watch the surf roll in. At Mariner Park, some braved the cold to take photos of themselves and the waves.
