An Anchorage man is in jail after using his car to ram another car and causing damage to the Anchor River Store. The collision also damaged the Seldovia Village Tribe Anchor Point Health Clinic, temporarily closing the clinic.

Alaska State Troopers arrested Douglas Dickinson, 18, of Anchorage, on Sunday evening, July 2, after getting reports of a collision at the Anchor River Store on the Old Sterling Highway.

Dickinson allegedly used his Ford Explorer to ram into another car in the store’s parking lot after a verbal argument with the owner, according to an online trooper dispatch.

“The Explorer collided with a parked car and then smashed into the front of the building,” the dispatch states. “Dickinson fled the scene.”

Troopers found him at a home in Anchor Point later in the evening and arrested him, according to the dispatch. Dickinson is charged with one count of assault in the second degree, two counts of assault in the third degree, one count of reckless driving, one count of leaving the scene of an injury accident, one count of failure to report an injury accident and one count of criminal mischief.

The SVT Anchor Point Health Clinic is closed until repairs can be made to the building. Patients will be rescheduled to the Homer clinic. Call 226-2228 to make an appointment or for more information. The Anchor Point clinic will be reopened after repairs have been made.

Assault in the second degree, which includes causing injury with a weapon with intent, is a class B felony. Assault in the third degree, which includes causing fear of injury with a weapon, is a class C felony, as is criminal mischief causing damage more than $1,000 in value. The other charges are unclassified misdemeanors.

He is currently being held at the Homer Jail.
