Many people don’t realize that there is a food pantry in Anchor Point. The Anchor Point Food Pantry is located at the Great Land Worship Center on School Street behind the Chapman School, open only on Mondays from 4-6 p.m. Food distribution begins at 5 p.m. but soup and dessert is provided for anyone beginning at 4 p.m. Donations come from various sources. We shop food sales and the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. Because we are part of Homer Community Food Pantry’s service area (and serving Nikolaevsk, Happy Valley and Ninilchik), Homer Community Food Pantry shares a portion of their food with us (thank you HCFP). We have monthly commodities available through the Salvation Army (thank you S.A. Christie, and Darlene Carey from A.P.). Yet, please remember us when you empty your freezer from last year’s catch — either fish or game! If you have extra produce, great! We sure could use both. Please call if you would like someone to pick it up: Teece, 299-6286, or Missy, 235-7842
Each week we serve about 25 families. We currently serve 80-plus families monthly; of which there are 38 children, 29 seniors, 20 veterans, and 41 disabled. Anything you could do to help us supply them with some of the basics would be greatly appreciated. Do you know someone that needs a box delivered? Please call the above numbers.
Warm regards,
Teece Scovell, Director of APFP
and Missy Martin, Assistant Director
