A fourth city council candidate has joined the race for Homer City Council.
Six-year Homer resident Daniel Hasche filed Monday for the council race. Incumbents Caroline Venuti and Rachel Lord and new candidate Joni Wise have also filed for candidacy for the October city council elections.
Hasche, who in his candidate statement said he has been described as fiscally conservative and pragmatic, said his vision for Homer is “to make it an example of a place where people from across the socioeconomic spectrum live in harmony.”
Hasche intends to direct his attention toward incentives for hiring locally, promoting Homer through new events, supporting the arts, grassland preservation on the Spit, regulations for bed-and-breakfasts and enhancing Homer’s sister-city relationship with Teshio, Japan.
“In my opinion, Homer is the greatest place on the entire road system,” Hasche wrote in his statement. “If elected, I will serve with an open mind and open ears. I will welcome any input from any of my fellow Homerites.”
Candidate filing for the 2023 Regular City Election closed Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
