June 1
Alaska State Troopers at 1:35 p.m. received a report of a burglary and theft at an Old Sterling Highway residence. Troopers said that sometime during the previous two months someone entered the home and took firearms, a 1986 Toyota van, and 1990 Ford F-150 pickup truck and a 1988 Honda four-wheeler. Troopers have developed a suspect and the investigation is continuing.
June 5
Troopers at 2:12 p.m. received a report of a burglary at a Finlander Court home in Anchor Point. Troopers said that sometime during the previous 11 months someone entered the home and stole $400 in items.
Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited a 26-year-old Sterling man for allowing two clients to sport fish in Cook Inlet in a marine conservation zone off the mouth of the Anchor River. Troopers cited the man on two counts of sport fishing in closed waters.
June 6
Troopers at 10:59 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 33-year-old Homer man driving a maroon Toyota van. Troopers arrested the man on a warrant for operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance. Troopers identified a passenger as a 35-year-old Homer woman. Troopers determined the van had been reported stolen from an Old Sterling Highway home on June 1. While conducting the traffic stop, troopers received a 911 report of a home invasion involving a gun at a Tall Tree Avenue home. Other troopers responded. While on the traffic stop, troopers said they saw the woman dismantling her cell phone. After conducting an investigation, troopers determined the 911 call had been false and alleged the woman made the false 911 call in an attempt to keep troopers from continuing the traffic stop on the stolen Toyota. Troopers arrested the woman for second-degree terroristic threatening and making a false report. Troopers arrested the man with second-degree theft by receiving.
Wildlife troopers cited the following for sportfish violations: a 53-year-old Anchorage man for retaining one halibut over the limit, a 22-year-old man for failing to record a king salmon caught in the Nick Dudiak Fishing Lagoon, a 34-year-old Fairbanks woman for failing to record a king salmon caught in Kachemak Bay, a 68-year-old Anchorage man for failing to record a king salmon caught in Kachemak Bay and a 60-year-old Anchorage man for failing to record a king salmon caught near the fishing lagoon.
June 7
Wildlife Troopers cited the following for sportfish violations: a 48-year-old Anchorage man for sport fishing with illegal gear in the Anchor River, a 66-year-old Homer man for failing to record two king salmon caught in Kachemak Bay, a 68-year-old Homer man for failing to record a king salmon caught in Kachemak Bay, a 61-year-old Anchor Point man for sport fishing in closed waters of the Anchor River, a 55-year-old Homer man for failing to record a king salmon caught in the Anchor River and a 64-year-old Florida one for keeping one king salmon over the limit caught in the Anchor River.
June 8
Troopers at 1:10 p.m. received a report of a theft from an Ester Avenue home in Anchor Point. Sometime during the previous six months someone stolen several musical instruments and items worth more than $1,200.
Troopers at 7 p.m. contacted a 46-year-old Homer man at the Deep Creek River Campground and arrested him on an active warrant.
Wildlife troopers cited the following for sportfish violations: a 59-year-old Texas man for landing and unlawfully removing a steelhead trout from Deep Creek to take a photo before its release; a 44-year-old Soldotna man, a 26-year-old North Carolina man for failure to record a king salmon and a 24-year-old Hawaii man for failure to record king salmon and for not having the nonresident king salmon stamp; and a 53-year-old Idaho man for failing to record a king salmon and for fishing after keeping a king salmon and a 43-year-old Idaho man and a 43-year-old Washington man for fishing after keeping a king salmon.
June 9
Troopers at 12:44 p.m. contacted a 27-year-old Homer man at his home and arrested him on a warrant.
June 11
Troopers went to a “report every dangerous driver immediately” and a disturbance complaint at a Cape Ninilchik Avenue home in Anchor Point. Troopers contacted a 47-year-old Anchor Point man and arrested him on a warrant for criminal trespassing and violating conditions of release.
June 13
Troopers at 2:59 a.m. went to a single-car rollover on the Sterling Highway near Ninilchik with a report that the car was on fire and the driver trapped inside. The complainant helped extricate the driver, a 20-year-old Kasilof man, from his Chevrolet Cobalt. Ninilchik Emergency Services responded and put out the fire and took the driver to Central Peninsula Hospital with injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Troopers at 2:50 p.m. arrested a 44-year-old Anchor Point woman for calling 911 for nonemergency problems. Troopers had warned the woman to cease making nonemergency 911 calls and issued her a disorderly conduct warning. After she continued to make calls they arrested her.
Troopers at 6:39 p.m. went to a car rollover on Diamond Ridge Road near. Troopers said a 21-year-old Wasilla man driving east in his 1995 Ford Ranger lost control when his passenger-side tires went into loose dirt. The man overcorrected and the truck went into a spin and then rolled onto its top. Kachemak Emergency Services responded and checked the man out for minor injuries.
