Kenai Peninsula Votes tidbit:
The women’s right to vote was a monumental battle. One-hundred sixty years ago in Seneca Falls N.Y., the women’s suffrage movement began. Seventy-two years later, white women won the right to vote, when the 19th Amendment was passed in 1920. Finally, in 1965 the Voting Rights Act was passed and discriminatory voting practices were federally outlawed so that all women could vote.
Women’s history (as well as all oppressed people) should never be taken lightly. It should be celebrated and retaught to younger generations to come.
