Art lovers can add a new venue to their art walk on First Friday: a show of art created by Homer Connections students from classes they’ve taken this semester. Homeschooled students who took art classes this semester show their work from 3-4 p.m. Friday at All Hopped Up Espresso on West Pioneer Avenue.

Another collection of art by varied artists continues at Bunnell Street Arts Center with its annual 10×10 members show. Artists were invited to submit works in any medium, but with one limitation. Art could be no bigger than 10-inches squared or 10-inches cubed. More than 30 artists answered the call. A silent auction closes at 6 p.m. Friday with an artists talk at that time.

New shows include work by Amy Kruse at Grace Ridge Brewing, John Lofgreen at Fireweed Gallery and Sebastian Troy Pierre at Ptarmigan Arts.

Homer Council on the Arts won’t have a First Friday showing as it prepares for the Nutcracker Faire on Saturday and Sunday at Homer High School. HCOA will have a Second Friday show next week when students in Gundega Sneptse’s Puzuri class show work made in the Latvian tradition of ornaments and hanging sculptures made from reeds and other natural materials.

To show appreciation for customers who have supported art at the Art Shop Gallery, the first 50 visitors on Friday get a special gift, and everyone can enter a drawing for a Jon Van Zyle framed art card.
