State Trooper Report

Feb. 22

Alaska State Troopers at 1:27 p.m. went to a two-car crash near Mile 50 Sterling Highway in Cooper Landing. Troopers said a 24-year-old Anchorage man driving north in a 2000 International moving van lost control on icy roads and went into the opposite lane. A 47-year-old Ninilchik woman driving south in a 2015 Jeep Cherokee could not avoid the van because of a guardrail and the van struck her car head on. Emergency medical services from Cooper Landing, Moose Pass and Central Emergency Services responded and extricated the woman. Medics took her to Central Peninsula Hospital with serious injuries. The crash closed the highway for about 90 minutes. Troopers cited the man for driving with a suspended driver’s license.
