A man was injured after being shot multiple times in Soldotna early Monday, according to an Alaska State Trooper dispatch.At about 2:30 a.m., troopers responded to an area near Big Eddy Road after a report of gunshots.
“When Troopers arrived on scene, they discovered an adult male in a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” the dispatch reads.
The man was transported by LifeMed to an Anchorage-area hospital. Troopers identified the man as Russell J. Camp, 24, of Soldotna. His condition is unknown.
Investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is still ongoing, they said.
Central Peninsula Hospital experienced a brief lockdown in response to the shooting, said Marketing Manager Camille Sorensen. The hospital was locked down from 4:50-6:30 a.m. on Monday.
Sorensen said the lockdown was initiated to protect patients inside.
“It was called internally,” Sorensen said. “(It was) just basically until we knew things were kind of cleared.”
