Gertie is a 6-month-old female.
“My name is Gertie. I was trapped and brought into the shelter right before the cold. Humans are new to me and can be a bit scary. At times I am curious and will even let one of the gals here pet my head after she sits with me for a while, and boy can I purr! I would like to get out of here but will need to ask for patience, love and a quiet, comfortable space where we can get to know each other. Please give me a chance.”
To adopt a pet, call or stop by the animal shelter across from the Public Works Department off the Sterling Highway.
The shelter is open from noon-7 p.m. Tuesday, noon-5 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, and 11 a.m.-4 pm. Saturday-Sunday. Closed Mondays. For more information, call 235-3141.
