Mountainfilm fest opens Jan. 15

The annual Homer Mountainfilm festival opens next week with shows at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 and 7 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Mariner Theatre. Separate films are shown each night. The film festival features adventure, wilderness and environmental films selected from the Telluride Mountainfilm Festival. A fundraiser for Homer Community Recreation, tickets are $10 for each show and on sale at the Community Recreation office at Homer High School or at the Homer Bookstore.

Films selected range from shorts about surfing, skiing and rock climbing to explorations of unique ecosystems like the Mesopotamian marshes or the limestone rock formations of China.
