The Friends of the Homer Public Library has started its first Little Free Library at the Fritz Creek General Store. The library was designed and built by Flex School student Michael Peltier, with assistance from Flex teachers Chris Brown and Jeff Szarzi. The friends paid for materials and will keep the Little Free Library stocked with books.
“We are very pleased with the thoughtfulness and craftsmanship that Michael Peltier brought to this project,” said Erin Hollowell, Friends of the Homer Public Library coordinator.
Little Free Libraries are based on the premise “take a book, leave a book.” Community members wishing to donate books to the friends can do so during regular hours. Donated books are screened for inclusion in the library collection, in the Little Free Library or for sale at used book sales.
