Aug. 24

A caller at 9:25 a.m. reported an assault.

A woman at 11:22 a.m. reported the theft of a car. Police later provided assistance for the woman to retrieve the car from her husband.

A man at 6:51 p.m. made a 911 call of a drunk man cursing and causing a disturbance on the Spit. Police responded and issued the drunk man a trespass notice.

A caller at 7:40 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on an older woman at a Herndon Drive address. Police responded and found the woman was OK.

Several callers at 8:57 p.m. reported a drunk man yelling and disturbing people on the Spit. Police responded and arrested a 28-year-old man for criminal trespass.

Police at 9:58 p.m. contacted a 40-year-old man on the Sterling Highway and arrested him on an outstanding warrant.

A caller at 9:49 p.m. reported a drunk man on the ground near the Poopdeck Trail. Police responded and took the man to South Peninsula Hospital.

Police at 9:58 p.m. contacted a 40-year-old man driving on Heath Street and arrested him for driving while license revoked.

Aug. 25

A caller at 10:12 a.m. reported damage to a building on Ben Walters Lane.

A caller at 2:20 p.m. reported a person removing driftwood from a storm berm on Bishop’s Beach.

A caller at 3:05 p.m. reported a person stealing a car on Ocean Drive. Police responded and arrested a 35-year-old man for second-degree theft and violating a protective order.

A caller at 7:50 p.m. reported picking up an unattended gun and case at Freight Dock Road.

A caller at 8:33 p.m. reported possibly drunk juveniles outside a Main Street business. Police responded and arrested a 23-year-old woman on an outstanding warrant.

A caller at 10:21 p.m. reported a dead animal in the road on Bayview Avenue. Police removed a dead porcupine.

Aug. 26

A caller at 5:22 a.m. reported a man yelling and throwing things on Main Street. Police responded but the man had left.

A caller at 10:38 a.m. reported a disturbance at a Ben Walters Lane business. Police responded.

A caller at 5 p.m. reported a disturbance over an abandoned car at an Ocean Drive address. The car was moved and police issued a trespass notice to a man.

A Sterling Highway business at 6:20 p.m. reported a theft.

Aug. 27

Police at 12:11 a.m. made a security check of Bishop’s Beach and issued a trespass notice to a man telling him to stay away from the public restrooms for the night.

Police at 11:14 a.m. assisted the Homer Volunteer Fire Department with a 23-year-old man stranded on the bluff near the Baycrest Hill turnout. At 12:06 p.m. two friends of the man reported him missing from the night before. Alaska Air National Guard rescuers hoisted the man from the bluff and took him to the Homer Airport. He was uninjured.

A caller at 11:20 a.m. reported an injured bird on the Spit. Police notified the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Police at 2:38 p.m. stopped a 38-year-old man driving on Pioneer Avenue and arrested him for driving while license suspended.

Aug. 28

Police at 12:34 a.m. contacted a 71-year-old man driving on Jake’s Little Fireweed Avenue and arrested him for driving under the influence and resisting arrest.

A caller at 9:27 a.m. reported a possible scam.

A woman at 6:01 p.m. reported an ex-boyfriend harassed her by phone.

A caller at 10:51 p.m. asked for information regarding a person who might be violating conditions of release and causing a disturbance at a Sterling Highway address. Police issued him a warning.

Aug. 29

A caller at 11:15 a.m. reported a missing wallet and then authorized charges on credit cards.

A man at 6:31 p.m. reported his tool box was stolen from the bed of his pickup truck parked at a Greatland Street address.

Police at 9:18 p.m. assisted EMTs with two subjects on the Poopdeck Trail.

Aug. 30

A person at 3:40 a.m. flagged down an officer regarding an assault on Pioneer Avenue. Police arrested a 26-year-old man for disorderly conduct and liquor license violations.
