The Holy Santos Gang has just released its first full-length album, “Twain.” After four years as a group, an extended play recording and an award-winning music video at the Fairbanks Film Festival, Rudy Multz, Steve Collins, Dylan Smith and Joel Mosier have taken a solid foundation of songs to the next level. (Since recording the album, Mosier has moved to Anchorage and Ben Gerhards has been drumming for the band.)

Multz, who writes lyrics, sings and plays rhythm guitar, says that the group has had really encouraging feedback so far. He describes the band’s sound as “frontier rock,” an “eclectic blend of American rock and Alaska music.” In addition to the four band members on guitars and drums, the album includes Katie Emerick for female vocals, Peter Norton, Jason Cameron and Knute Tonga on horns and Tyler Munns playing piano and organ.

In addition to local fans, Multz says they get a really positive response out of town. The group recently played Tap Root in Anchorage and the Kenai River Festival last Sunday. July 22-28 they go on tour to Haines for the Southeast Alaska State Fair and plan to play in Juneau, Sitka, Skagway, Whitehorse and McCarthy. With an album to sell at shows the band intends to leave a lasting presence behind them. Now they say they are just looking for a large van to get them there. 

The official release party starts at 8 p.m. June 22 at the Down East Saloon.
