The annual Rotary Health Fair is set for Nov. 10 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Homer High School. The fair is sponsored by Homer Kachemak Bay Rotary Club in partnership with South Peninsula Hospital. The theme is Its Your Life Take a Day to Be Well. Pre-health fair screenings are available at the hospital. Comprehensive blood analysis is available through the fair for only $40, a sizeable discount from the average cost of a comparable test. Blood tests are offered at the hospital lab in advance of the fair, with the results available for pickup at the fair. Appointments are offered from Oct. 22-Nov. 9. Make an appointment online at www.sphosp.org, then register at the hospitals new main entrance when you arrive. Payment must be made by cash or check at time of the test, and checks can be made to Rotary. Blood tests also are offered at the fair, and setting an appointment for your blood draw at the fair is encouraged and offered at www.sphosp.org. No food or drink, only water, should be consumed 10-12 hours prior to the test. In all cases prescription medication should be taken and diabetics should not fast.
