Firefighters and emergency medical technicians went to nine medical calls and one rescue call.

Firefighters at about 5:25 p.m. went to the Homer Spit for a kite surfer who had gotten tangled in his lines and was being pushed out by the tide. The kite surfer was able to get close to shore and a rescuer in the water helped him get up on the beach. Firefighters had a rescue boat on standby but did not deploy it.
