Holiday Fun with Barbara, by Barbara Lavallee

Artist and children’s book author Barbara Lavallee shows her new work, including two new prints, “Sewing Circle” and “Field Trip,” as well as her 2018 calendar, “Hot Tubs.” Lavallee is happy to sign and personalize her prints, calendar and books.
In her book, “The Best of Barbara,” she writes, “I am people oriented and family-oriented and I want to paint the best of people.I want to present my subjects with dignity and humor and fun and happiness. It makes getting up in the morning really easy! And it inspires me with the thought of the many new places and new projects that still lie ahead.”

Rachael Juzeler says she creates chandeliers, glass works and functional works of art by reusing materials that otherwise would go into the landfill.
“I am endlessly fascinated by the antiquity and ruins of my surroundings,” she writes. “Living on Douglas Island in Southeast Alaska has shaped my work and sense of place. … My ultimate goal is to transfer my vision of beauty found in discarded items, bringing our societal waste stream issues to light in re-assembled and re-imagined objects.”

Fireweed Gallery presents “Love From Alaska,” by Kasilof acrylic artist Amy Kruse. Along with her paintings, Amy’s show features her unique clothing line of hoodies and tights, their designs created from her original acrylic paintings.
Kruse’s fabric designs are printed using her original paintings and made in the USA.

Wrapped, acrylic paintings by Sharlene Cline

Sharlene Cline “inhales the complicated world around her and responds to it with her art,” she said in a press release. “Wrapped” is a series of acrylic paintings of trees wrapped in burlap for winter. Cline says the anthropomorphized wrapped trees sway in her imagination, and slowly transform into people.
After a couple of decades, 2016 was the last season for Sharlene as a restaurateur, pastry chef, and sommelier; since then she has played in her studio. Cline has exhibited locally and nationally, including the Intercultural Museum Art Gallery in Baltimore, and the Dadian Gallery at the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. Her enjoyment of working with students extends to curating Kids Art Show, ArtQuest and 350.org., and she has taught art, especially Chinese brushwork, to children with the Alaska Artist for Schools program.
She is represented in numerous private collections in Canada, Ecuador, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, Taiwan and United States.

View and bid on decorated trees in a silent auction, with proceeds benefitting Haven House.
