Sept. 23
Alaska State Troopers at 9:55 a.m. put out a “be on the lookout” notice for a car stolen from Anchor Point. The car was later found in Girdwood.
A woman at 11:35 a.m. reported that while riding her bicycle on Pioneer Avenue a driver in a large truck did not move to go around her.
A caller at 3:19 p.m. reported an abandoned vehicle on Ocean Drive property.
A caller at 4:08 p.m. reported a vehicle in the ditch on the Spit. Police responded and did not find any impairment of the driver.
A caller at 4:36 p.m. asked police to issue a trespass notice to a person from a Heath Street home. Police advised a man of indefinite trespass.
A caller at 5:06 p.m. asked police to issue a trespass notice to a woman from a Tamara Street business. Police issued the notice.
A person at 5:45 p.m. came by the station to report a man with a hatchet sleeping near the Bishop’s Beach parking lot. Police responded and provided the man a ride home.
A man at 5:57 p.m. reported finding a cell phone in the road on the Sterling Highway.
A caller at 9:48 p.m. reported suspicious activity at a Bay Avenue parking lot. Police responded but did not see anything unusual.
A caller at 10:34 p.m. reported hearing possible gunfire in the Main Street and Cityview Avenue area.

A caller at 11:02 a.m. reported a drunk man at a Greatland Street store. Police responded.
A caller at 12:12 p.m. reported drug information.
Police at 3:05 p.m. attempted a warrant arrest at a Lakeside Drive address but could not locate the suspect.
Police at 3:14 p.m. attempted to serve a warrant at a Main Street address but could not locate the suspect.
A person at 5:40 p.m. visited the police station to report a theft from an East End Road busines.
Police at 5:46 p.m. assisted firefighters with a report of smoke in the Elderberry Court area.
A caller at 8:27 p.m. reported a noise disturbance in the Poopdeck Trail area. Police responded but no one contacted admitted any criminal activity.
Police at 9:42 p.m. served a domestic-violence protective order on a person at a Pioneer Avenue address.
Police at 10:54 p.m. contacted people involved in a domestic dispute at a Sterling Highway and Main Street address. The incident was verbal only. Police separated the parties.
Sept. 25
A caller at 1:37 a.m. reported a driver speeding on the Spit. Police contacted the suspect driver and arrested a 35-year-old man for driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a breath test and no motor vehicle insurance.
A caller at 7:54 a.m. asked police to check on a drunk man on the Sterling Highway. Police responded and took the man to South Peninsula Hospital.
A caller at 7:58 a.m. reported a couple arguing in the street on Main Street. Police responded.
A caller at 11:12 a.m. asked for a welfare check on a person at a Pioneer Avenue address.
A caller at 3:10 p.m. reported suspicious activity at a Pioneer Avenue parking lot. Police responded and arrested a 27-year-old man for making a false report and driving without a valid operator’s license.
Sept. 26
A man at 10:55 a.m. reported he had been threatened by a man on the Spit.
A caller at 1:41 p.m. reported a drunk man sleeping on the grass by the side of the Sterling Highway.
A woman at 2 p.m. reported losing a purse.
Police at 2:51 p.m. assisted the Anchorage Police Department with evidence.
A caller at 4:15 p.m. reported an abandoned vehicle in a Greatland Street parking lot.
A caller at 4:41 p.m. reported four drunk men on the Poopdeck Trail. Police responded but found the suspects had left.
A person at 5:05 p.m. reported a noise issue involving a house on Bayview Avenue.
A caller at 6:30 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a man at a Pioneer Avenue address.
A woman at 8 p.m. made a 911 call that someone slashed the tire on her car at an East End Road address.
Sept. 27
Police at 3:35 a.m. did a security check at a Pioneer Avenue address and found a man sleeping there. Police issued the man a trespass notice.
A woman at 9:56 a.m. reported a broken window at a Pioneer Avenue business.
A caller at 12:53 p.m. reported a vehicle in the ditch on Ocean Drive. Police issued a summons to a 45-year-old man for not having motor vehicle insurance.
A caller at 7:38 p.m. reported a suspicious vehicle on Lakeside Drive.
A caller at 7:44 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a 44-year-old woman at on Pioneer Avenue address. Police contacted the woman at a place where she had been issued a trespass notice. Police arrested her for trespassing.
Several callers at 8:59 p.m. reported hearing gunshots in the Fireweed Avenue area. Police responded and advised a suspect of ordinances prohibiting fireworks.
A caller at 9:40 p.m. reported suspicious activity at a Lakeside Drive address.
Sept. 28
A caller at 1:20 a.m. reported a person with a mental health issue. Police contacted the person and took the person to South Peninsula Hospital.
Police at 2 a.m. did a security check in the Pioneer Avenue and Bartlett Street area. Police contacted a man camping and issued him a trespass notice. Police advised the man of legal camping areas.
A person at 1:25 p.m. made a 911 call of a woman being verbally abusive to employees at a Lake Street business. The caller asked that the woman be issued a trespass notice. Police responded.
Police at 6:35 p.m. issued a warning to a person for skateboarding in the road near Mile 170 Sterling Highway.
A caller at 11:53 p.m. reported a drunk man was about to enter a car at a Sterling Highway address. Police responded but the man had already left.
Sept. 29
A caller at 10:33 a.m. reported losing a camera at Bishop’s Beach.
A caller at 2:03 p.m. asked for police help in removing a person from an Ocean Drive Loop address. Police responded and took a man to a different location. Police also issued the man a 1-year trespass notice.
A caller at 4:59 p.m. reported a drunk man vomiting at a Sterling Highway store. Police responded.
A caller at 5:02 p.m. reported possibly purchasing counterfeit items.
A caller at 5:44 p.m. reported a moose-vehicle collision near Mile 171 Sterling Highway.
Police at 8:30 p.m. contacted a 31-year-old man driving on Pioneer Avenue and arrested him for DUI.
A caller at 10:42 p.m. reported a loud generator being operated late at night at an Ocean Drive address. Police responded.
Sept. 30
A caller at 9:35 a.m. reported a drunk man on the side of the Sterling Highway. Police did a welfare check and arrested a 30-year-old man for fourth-degree assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
A caller at 3:13 p.m. asked police to trespass several men from a Greatland Street business. Police responded and issued trespass notices to the men.
A caller at 4:10 p.m. reported a theft from an Adams Drive home. Police responded.
A caller at 3:46 p.m. asked police to issue a trespass notice to a person at a Greatland Street business.
A person at 4:34 p.m. made a 911 call of a verbal dispute in progress at a Sterling Highway address. Police responded and separated the parties.
A caller at 6:20 p.m. reported people trespassing in a vacant building on Pioneer Avenue. Police responded and found the building was not secured and contacted the owner.
A caller at 6:53 p.m. reported a domestic disturbance at a Fairview Avenue home. Police responded.
A caller at 9:14 p.m. asked police to issue a trespass notice to a person from a Pioneer Avenue address.
Oct. 1
A person at 7:32 a.m. made a 911 call asking for someone to be removed from a Fairview Avenue home. Police responded.
A caller at 11:23 a.m. asked police to do a welfare check on two people at a Sterling Highway address. Police said one person was drunk and was unable to help. Police responded but could not find the suspects.
A caller at 3:13 p.m. reported children playing on the roof of a trailer home on Soundview Avenue. Police responded and the children got off the roof.
A woman at 4:12 p.m. reported her daughter lost her wallet.
A person at 7:54 p.m. came to the police station and turned in a found wallet. Police contacted the owner.
Several callers at 9:52 p.m. reported possible gunshots in the Scenic Place area.
Oct. 2
A caller at 9 a.m. reported a person with a trespass notice was at a Greatland Street store. Police responded and arrested a 31-year-old man for trespassing and concealment of merchandise.
A caller at 12:56 p.m. reported a damaged vehicle on the Spit beach near Mile 4. Police responded and a towing company removed the vehicle.
A caller at 1:21 p.m. reported an abandoned vehicle on Crossman Ridge Road.
A caller at 2:39 p.m. reported electronics stolen from a boat at a Kachemak Drive boat yard.
A caller at 4:12 p.m. reported two vehicles in a Mattox Road parking lot with occupants who appeared to be doing something suspicious.
A caller at 4:35 p.m. reported losing a cell phone.
A person at 6:02 p.m. made a 911 call that a person threatened suicide. Police contacted the person and determined all was OK.
Police at 10:35 p.m. arrested a 39-year-old man on outstanding warrants at a Pioneer Avenue address.
Police at 11:24 p.m. contacted a person at a Sterling Highway business who had been trespassed from there earlier.
Oct. 3
Police at 5:45 a.m. served a search warrant at a Lakeside Drive address.
A caller at 10 a.m. reported losing and then finding an iPod.
An employee at 10:29 a.m. reported video at a Greatland Street store showed a person who had been trespassed entering property after hours. Police advised the person of the trespass notice.
A caller at 2:24 p.m. reported an unattended death at a Sterling Highway address.
A woman at 7:24 p.m. made a 911 call that staff at a Bartlett Street facility hurt her. Police responded and took the woman into protective custody.
A caller at 10:05 p.m. asked for help with a drunk woman at a Main Street address.
Troopers
Sept. 22
Alaska State Troopers on Aug. 27 received a report of a theft of a generator from a cabin near Mile 9 East End Road. Troopers identified a suspect as a 30-year-old Homer man. Troopers and Kenai Probation tried to contact the man but were unsuccessful. On Sept. 22 troopers saw the suspect driving a gold Kia SUV on the Sterling Highway. Troopers tried to contact the man when he pulled into a driveway at a Valleyside Drive home near Mile 155 Sterling Highway in Anchor Point. Troopers said the man had a revoked driver’s license until 2060. Troopers said the suspect ran away from troopers when he saw them. During a follow-up investigation, troopers found the stolen generator and identified the 30-year-old man as the one who brought the generator to the Valleyside Drive home. On Sept. 26 the Homer Court issued a warrant for the man’s arrest on charges of driving while license revoked, third-degree theft and first-degree criminal trespass.
Sept. 23
Troopers at 11:30 a.m. received a report of a theft from an Anchor Point home. The victim reported sometime during the previous two or three months someone stole four sets of truck tires and rims and a keel cooler system from a fishing boat, with a total value of about $1,200. Sept. 24
Troopers at 10:40 a.m. stopped a driver for speeding on East End Road. Troopers said a 19-year-old man drove in violation of his instructional permit and that he violated conditions of release in three prior cases. Troopers arrested the man.
Troopers at 4:41 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 53-year-old Homer man in Anchor Point and arrested him for driving under the influence.
Sept. 25
Troopers at 12:08 p.m. contacted a 35-year-old Homer man at his home and arrested him on an outstanding warrant.
Troopers at 5:41 p.m. tried to make a traffic stop on a 36-year-old Ninilchik man near Mile 143 Sterling Highway in Ninilchik. Troopers said the man failed to stop immediately but did stop after a short distance. Troopers issued the man a summons for driving without a driver’s license and second-degree failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer.
Sept. 27
Troopers at 9:30 p.m. contacted a 65-year-old Anchor Point man at the water plant in Anchor Point and arrested him on an outstanding warrant.
Sept. 30
Troopers at 10:18 a.m. went to a Ninilchik home for a report of a burglary. Troopers said someone forced entry into the home during the previous 72 hour and stole two televisions, a DVD player and miscellaneous tools in a bag. The burglar also damaged the home. An investigation is ongoing.
Troopers at 4:15 p.m. went to a Valleyside Avenue home in Anchor Point for a disturbance. Troopers contacted a 29-year-old Anchor Point woman they said caused the disturbance. Troopers arrested the woman on a warrant for failing to comply with the conditions of her probation. Troopers said she also was under the influence of drugs and her probation officer asked her to be arrested on a probation violation.

Talmadge Mac Phillips, 53, charge dismissed, fourth-degree assault. He pleaded guilty to another charge of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 30 days suspended; ordered to pay $50 to support the Police Training Fund and a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended; ordered to provide a DNA sample on request; and was placed on probation for one year. He also pleaded guilty to second-degree harassment and was sentenced to 10 days in jail with 10 days suspended and ordered to perform 40 hours of community work service and ordered not to have contact with his victim. He pleaded guilty to violating conditions of release and was fined $150.
Jeffrey D. Sapinoro-Maher, 36, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. He was fined $500 with $500 suspended and sentenced to 90 days in jail with 89 days suspended; ordered to pay $50 to support the Police Training Fund and a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended; ordered to apply for an Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend and pay restitution; ordered to enroll in and complete a batterer’s intervention program; ordered to provide a DNA sample on request; ordered not to have contact with his victim; and was placed on probation for two years.
Peter P. Basargin, 28, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of driving without a valid operator’s license. He was fined $150 and ordered to pay $50 to support the Police Training Fund.
Gerald Junior Catterfield, 57, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. He was fined $2,000 with $500 suspended and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 27 days suspended; ordered to pay $75 to support the Police Training Fund, a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended and the $330 cost of imprisonment; ordered to attend an alcohol safety action program and install an ignition interlock device; had his driver’s license revoked for 90 days; and was placed on probation for one year.
Peter A. Anahonak Jr., 54, Port Graham, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. He was fined $5,000 with $4,000 suspended and sentenced to 360 days in jail with 345 days suspended; ordered to pay $50 to support the Police Training Fund and a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended; ordered to provide a DNA sample on request; ordered not to have contact with his victim; and was placed on probation for three years.
Axel R. Bear, 21, Anchor Point, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal mischief. He was sentenced to 25 days in jail with 25 days suspended; ordered to pay $50 to support the Police Training Fund and a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended; and was placed on probation for one year.
