A caller at 10:34 a.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a man who had made suicidal threats. The caller later called back and said the man was OK.
A person at 10:32 a.m. made a 911 call that a man might be casing houses in the Poppy Circle and Forest Glen area.
A caller at 10:41 a.m. reported a hit-and-run crash on Freight Dock Road.
A caller at 10:43 a.m. reported a man driving who should not be driving on Pioneer Street.
An agency at 12:23 p.m. asked for police assistance with an agitated client at a Lake Street address. Police stood by.
A caller at 2:40 p.m. asked to speak to an officer regarding a domestic violence incident, paperwork and personal belongings. Police advised the caller of options.
A person at 3 p.m. came by the police station to report a scam.
A caller at 3:24 p.m. reported people riding skateboards in the road on Main Street.
A person at 7:21 p.m. reported hearing what sounded like gunshots in the Jenny Way area. Police responded and determined the sound was fireworks.
A man at 7:21 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on his wife whom he couldn’t contact. Police contacted the woman and found all was OK.
A person at 7:52 p.m. flagged down an officer on near Mile 4 Homer Spit Road regarding a hazard in the road. Police removed the hazard.
A person at 8:22 p.m. made a 911 call of people yelling in white SUVs on the Bypass. One car almost rammed the other. Police responded.
A caller at 8:48 p.m. reported a disagreement with a drunk man on the Spit beach
A caller at 9:45 p.m. reported fireworks on Bishop’s Beach. Police responded and warned people about city ordinances prohibiting fireworks.
July 4
A caller at 12:11 a.m. reported an unattended child on the side of the Bypass near Lake Street. Police returned the child home.
A caller at 8:24 a.m. reported finding a vehicle that had been involved in a prior shoplifting incident was parked at a Bypass store. Police responded and cited a woman for driving while license revoked.
Police at 11:40 a.m. made a traffic stop on a 27-year-old man driving on the Spit and issued him a summons for driving in violation of permit.
Police at 11:59 a.m. made a traffic stop on 26-year-old man driving on the Spit and issued him a summons for no insurance.
A caller at 12:31 p.m. reported young people throwing sticks at moving vehicles on Crossman Ridge Road.
Several people at 1:58 p.m. made 911 calls of a two-vehicle crash with injuries near Mile 169 Sterling Highway at the Baycrest Hill turnout. Police and medics responded.
A caller at 3 p.m. advised a woman in a car had an injury and the drive might be drunk on Main Street. Police responded.
Police at 3:47 p.m. made a traffic stop on an 18-year-old woman driving on Ocean Drive. Police issued her a summons for not having a valid operator’s license.
Police at 7:31 p.m. received a 911 pocket dial call from a Main Street home. Police could hear the sound of shifting fabric. Police responded and found a man raked his yard.
Callers at 8:04 p.m., 8:47 p.m., 11:06 p.m. and 11:47 p.m. reported people shooting fireworks on the Spit.
A caller at 8:40 p.m. reported fireworks on Mission Road.
A caller at 8:38 p.m. reported hearing the sound of gunshots on Sabrina Road.
A caller at 10:44 p.m. made a noise complaint on the Spit. Police responded.
A caller at 11:47 p.m. reported fireworks on West Bunnell Avenue. Police responded.
July 5
A caller at 12:18 a.m. reported a howling dog at a Kachemak Drive address. Police took the dog to the Animal Shelter.
A caller at 12:50 a.m. came to the station to report a lost dog in the Bayview Avenue area.
A person at 12:05 p.m. came to the station to request information on options for a civil child custody matter.
A person at 1:20 p.m. made a 911 call regarding suspicious activity involving a possibly missing staff member. Police contacted the staff member and found all was OK.
Police at 1:52 p.m. made a traffic stop on a man driving near Mile 169 Sterling Highway and issued him a citation for misuse of plates.
A caller at 5:25 p.m. reported an unauthorized vehicle parked in a lot on Lake Street.
A caller at 5:34 p.m. reported a dog in a car with windows rolled up at a Bypass parking lot. The caller was concerned about the dog overheating. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.
Several callers at 6:48 p.m. reported a disturbance in a parking lot of a Ben Walters Lane apartment complex. Police responded.
A person at 7 p.m. made a 911 call regarding the theft of a boat motor on the Spit near Ramp 4.
A caller at 7:30 p.m. reported a person trespassing at a Bypass address.
An officer at 8:19 p.m. assisted a driver with a disabled vehicle on Lake Street.
A caller at 9 p.m. reported a trespassing issue at a Bypass address. Police responded and found all was OK.
July 6
A caller at 12:07 a.m. reported a disturbance on the Spit. Police responded.
A caller at 12:50 a.m. reported a bear in the Hillside Place area.
A caller at 8:15 a.m. reported a dead moose along Skyline Drive. Police notified the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and a charity was notified to remove the moose.
A caller at 9:58 a.m. reported a person violated conditions of release.
Police at 11:41 a.m. received a report of possible animal abuse while on another call.
A caller at 11:53 a.m. reported a suspicious man riding a motorbike through a Spit parking lot possibly casing cars.
A caller at 3:28 p.m. asked police to stand by for a civil incident at a Lake Street office.
A man at 3:35 p.m. came to the station to report a storage unit broken into at an East End Road address.
A caller at 3:55 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a man talking to himself in the road on Fairview Avenue. Police responded but could not find the man.
A caller at 7:40 p.m. reported a child left his Danview Avenue house on foot in an unknown direction. Police responded. A neighbor found the child. All was OK.
A person at 8:20 p.m. made a 911 call with a “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaint on Ocean Drive near Douglas Street. Police contacted the suspect driver and did not find any impairment.
A caller at 10:25 p.m. asked police to patrol the Ben Walters Lane area because of suspicious vehicles. Police responded.
A caller at 10:36 p.m. reported suspicious vehicles on vacant land at a Kachemak Drive address.
A caller at 11:20 p.m. reported a vehicle crash on the Bypass with a large bucket of paint left in the road. Police responded and cleared the road.
July 7
A caller at 6:02 a.m. activated a lifeline asking for police assistance at a Fairview Avenue address. Police responded.
Troopers
July 6
Alaska State Troopers at 6:25 a.m. went to a disturbance on Marimac Avenue in Fritz Creek. Troopers arrested a 29-year-old Fritz Creek woman for fifth-degree criminal mischief.
Troopers at 8:18 a.m. went to a motorcycle that hit a moose near Mile 10 East End Road. Troopers said a 55-year-old man hit the moose while riding his motorcycle. Medics took the man to South Peninsula Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited a 32-year-old Homer man for unlawfully employing an unlicensed crewman, a 25-year-old Fritz Creek man, while fishing in Nushagak Bay in the Bristol Bay fishery. The Fritz Creek man did not have a valid 2017 Alaska Crew License in possession.
