Firefighters and emergency medical technicians went to eight medical calls and four fire calls.
Dec. 6
Firefighters at 10:11 p.m. went to a chimney fire at a Mattox Road home. All residents had safely evacuated the building by the time firefighters arrived. Crews found a chimney stack fire that was contained to the flue. Firefighters put out the fire. No other damage to the property was noted.
HVFD reminds homeowners to clean their chimneys regularly to prevent creosote buildup. Creosote can appear as black or brown flakes or a crust and be tar-like or shiny in appearance. It is highly flammable and can result in a chimney fire if the flue temperature gets hot enough. Have chimneys cleaned by chimney sweeps or borrow brushes from HVFD or other local departments.

A caller at 11:56 a.m. reported an unattended bag on Heath Street near Pioneer Avenue. Police responded.
A caller at 12:45 p.m. reported his son had been threatened at a Sterling Highway address.
Police at 5:52 p.m. issued a driving-under-the-influence warning to a person on East End Road.
Dec. 6
A caller at 12:59 a.m. made a noise complaint of people at a Mattox Road address. Police responded and the people agreed to turn music down.
Police at 4:04 a.m. went to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Main Street. A caller at 1:25 p.m. reported a stolen vehicle that turned out to be the vehicle in the ditch.
A caller at 10:05 a.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a child walking outside and not dressed for the weather on Lake Street. Police responded but could not find the child.
A woman at 11:18 a.m. went to the station to report a safety concern. Police advised the woman of her options and referred her to an agency.
A person at 2:03 p.m. made a 911 call reporting a vehicle had been damaged at a Pioneer Avenue address.
A person at 3:07 p.m. went to the station and asked to speak with an office regarding substance abuse and a family member. Police advised the person of options.
Police at 6:17 p.m. assisted another agency with a “be on the lookout” advisory for a juvenile.
A caller at 8:36 p.m. reported an overturned vehicle off the roadway near Mile 168.5 Sterling Highway.
Police at 10:46 p.m. assisted firefighters in responding to a chimney fire at a Mattox Road home.
A caller at 10:55 p.m. reported a vehicle in the ditch with a drunk man walking away from the scene. Police responded.
Dec. 7
A caller at 11:22 a.m. reported threats being made regarding a building on Soundview Avenue. Police responded.
A caller at 11:40 a.m. reported possible fraud.
A caller at 1:23 p.m. reported a person with a warrant at a Sterling Highway business. Police responded and arrested a 24-year-old man on a warrant and for concealment of merchandise.
A caller at 4:17 p.m. reported a driver in a truck spun doughnuts in a Sterling Highway parking lot and sprayed gravel into glass windows. Police responded.
A caller at 4:46 p.m. asked for police assistance regarding a civil dispute over a cabin. Police responded.
Police at 10:09 p.m. made a traffic stop on a driver near Mile 3 East End Road and issued a DUI warning.
Dec. 8
A caller at 11:06 a.m. reported a man left a Main Street home with personal items belonging to the caller.
Police at 11:24 a.m. served a temporary restraining order on a person at an Aurora Court address.
A caller at 1:36 p.m. reported someone broke windows at a Shelford Street address.
A caller at 2:59 p.m. reported a domestic dispute at a Bay Vista Court address. Police responded.
Police at 7:42 p.m. received a “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaint of a driver near Mile 171.5 Sterling Highway. Police didn’t find any impairment by the driver. The person was driving with a spare tire and having difficulty.
Dec. 9
Police at 1:28 a.m. contacted a couple at Mariner Park on the Spit and arrested a 29-year-old woman on a petition to revoke probation. They issued a summons for fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance to a 38-year-old man.
A caller at 3:08 a.m. reported suspicious activity in the Mountain View Drive area. Police responded but didn’t see anything suspicious.
A caller at 9:10 a.m. reported a landlord-tenant issue at a Kachemak Drive address. The caller later reported the issue had been resolved.
A caller at 3:25 p.m. reported a vehicle towing juveniles on the Spit. Police contacted the subjects and they agreed to stop the activity.
A caller at 9:09 p.m. reported a suspicious vehicle with its engine running parked in the driveway of a Hohe Street home. The license plate given didn’t match the vehicle description. Police responded.
A person at 10:34 p.m. made a 911 call of being in a verbal dispute with the caller’s girlfriend. Police responded and separated the parties.
Dec. 10
Police at 12:29 a.m. contacted a 30-year-old man at a Pioneer Avenue address and arrested him for petition to revoke probation.
A person at 11:05 a.m. went to the station to report a theft from an Eagle View Drive home.
Dec. 11
A man at 12:10 a.m. made a 911 call that a woman walked into his Jenny Way home and wouldn’t leave. Police responded and the woman left in a taxi.
A caller at 12:19 p.m. reported people camping in a vehicle at a W. Bunnell Avenue parking lot. Police responded and issued a trespass notice.
A caller at 10:48 p.m. made a REDDI complaint of a man and woman who appeared drunk leaving a vehicle at a Pioneer Avenue address. Police responded and contacted the man in another vehicle.
A caller at 11:19 p.m. reported a drunk man causing a disturbance at a Main Street home. Police responded but did not see evidence of a crime. The man left for the night.
Troopers
Nov. 29
Alaska State Troopers at 3:45 a.m. received a report of an assault at a Nikolaevsk home. Troopers said a 31-year-old Nikolaevsk woman drove drunk and then assaulted her boyfriend. Troopers said the woman also had been alone with a 2-year-old child while she was drunk. Police arrested the woman for fourth-degree assault, driving under the influence and second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.
Dec. 3
Troopers at 2:37 p.m. contacted a 29-year-old Homer man at his home and arrested him on an outstanding warrant.
Troopers at 3:41 p.m. contacted a 24-year-old Homer man at his home and arrested him on an outstanding warrant.
Troopers at 9:11 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 62-year-old Anchor Point man on the North Fork Road near Anchor Point and arrested him for DUI.
Dec. 5
Troopers at 4:11 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 35-year-old Homer woman near Mile 4.5 East End Road and arrested her for DUI.
Dec. 7
Troopers at 12:35 p.m. went to a single-vehicle rollover near Mile 16 East End Road. Troopers said the driver, a 55-year-old Homer man, lost control on icy roads. Medics transported a passenger to South Peninsula Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Dec. 10
Troopers at 9:03 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 55-year-old Ninilchik man near Mile 107 Sterling Highway in Soldotna. Troopers arrested the man for DUI and fourth-degree weapons misconduct.

Carlos D. Pimentel-Acosta, 35, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. He was fined $3,000 with $1,500 suspended and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 27 days suspended; ordered to pay $75 to support the Police Training Fund, a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended and the $330 cost of imprisonment; ordered to attend an alcohol safety action program and install an ignition interlock device; had his driver’s license revoked for 90 days; and was placed on probation for one year.
William F. Reagan, 85, Anchorage, pleaded guilty to two counts of violating hunting seasons and bag limits for moose. He was fined $1,500 with $750 suspended one each count; ordered to pay $50 to support the Police Training Fund; ordered to forfeit antlers and meat seized; had his hunting license revoked for one year; ordered to apply for an Alaska Permanent Fund Divided and pay restitution; and was placed on probation for one year.
Trisha Wilson, 37, Fritz Creek, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. She was fined $2,000 with $500 suspended and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 27 days suspended; ordered to pay $75 to support the Police Training Fund, a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended and the $330 cost of imprisonment; ordered to attend an alcohol safety action program and install an ignition interlock device; had her driver’s license revoked for 90 days; and was placed on probation for one year.
Kevin F. Rutter, 27, pleaded guilty to driving while license revoked, suspended, cancelled or limited.
