Homer Volunteer Fire Department

Aug. 29 – Sept. 5

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to eight Advanced Life Support emergencies, five Basic Life Support emergencies with two No Transport, for a total of 13 EMS related calls. In addition, there were four fire calls, two of which were cancelled in route.

Kachemak Emergency Services

Aug. 29 – Sept. 4

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to one fire call.

Western Emergency Services

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to nine medical calls and three fire calls.

Homer Police

Sept. 4

At 12:38 a.m. an officer conducted a routine traffic stop. As a result a 24-year-old Idaho man was arrested for Driving under the influence, refusal, promoting contraband ii,and remanded to Homer Jail.

At 12:20 p.m. a wanted person turned himself in. As a a 60-year-old Homer was arrested for failure to appear for arraignment, original charge of violate a stalking order and remanded to Homer Jail.

Aug. 31

At 9:00 p.m. Alaska State Troopers in Anchor Point conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation in Ninilchik. The driver, later identified as 40-year-old Ninilchik resident attempted to flee from the Trooper and after a brief vehicle and foot chase the perpetrator was arrested. The man had 2 outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants and received new charges of Failure to Stop at Direction of a Peace Officer 2nd, DWLR with prior convictions (over 13 convictions in the last 10 years), and VCOR. The man was remanded to the Homer Jail where he was held on a total of $550 bail for the arrest warrants.

Sept. 2

At 8:44 p.m. the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop near mile marker 169 of the Sterling Highway for a speeding infraction. The driver was identified as a 41-year-old Anchor Point resident. Investigation revealed The woman was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The woman was placed under arrest for DUI. The perpetrator was transported to the Homer Jail where she was remanded, bail was set at her own recognizance.

Sept. 6

At 11:39 p.m. the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operating without headlights on near the intersection of E. Pioneer Ave and Main Street in Homer. The driver was identified as a 33-year-old Anchor Point resident. Investigation revealed the perpetrator was operating a vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The man was placed under arrest for DUI. The man was transported to Homer Police Department, where he was remanded. Bail was set at his own recognizance.
