Homer Police
Sept. 19
A caller at 1:58 p.m. requested help on East Pioneer Avenue getting to the hospital. An officer and medics went to the scene and medics took the caller to the hospital.
A caller at 2:18 p.m. reported a man yelling obscenities who had set up camp and was throwing trash on Hohe Street. Officers went to the area and removed the man.
A caller at 5:01 p.m. reported a disturbance at a business on Spit Road. Officers went to the scene and issued a trespass advisement from the property.
Officers at 7:02 p.m. contacted two men on foot on East End Road and issued them trespass advisements from a business.
A caller at 10:36 p.m. made a Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately (REDDI) report on two vehicles leaving an establishment and one vehicle leaving the scene of an accident at Pioneer Avenue and Main Street. Officers contacted the vehicle not involved in the hit and run, and no impairment was noted. Officers issued a be on the look out notice for the second vehicle.
Sept. 20
Officers at 10:39 a.m. got a 911 open line call from Spit Road and Fish Dock Road. On a call back, officers spoke to the caller who said it was a pocket dial. Officers went to the area and arrested a 27-year-old man on a warrant.
A caller at 12:14 p.m. reported possible drugs on East Fairview Avenue. An officer went to the area.
A caller at 1:37 p.m. requested a welfare check to be done on Spit Road. An officer went to the scene and a registered owner was contacted to respond as well.
A caller at 7:07 p.m. requested assistance putting out a fire behind a business on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the scene.
Sept. 21
A caller at 11:59 a.m. reported a vehicle crash with damage at Bonanza Avenue and Heath Street. An officer went to the scene and gave those involved a car crash report form.
A caller at 3:14 p.m. reported a possibly suicidal woman on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the scene but was unable to locate her. The officer later made contact and found the woman was at the ER with a family member.
A caller at 6:48 p.m. reported that a dog was in a parking lot on the Homer Bypass. An officer and the animal control office went to the scene.
An officer at 9:06 p.m. made a traffic stop at Pioneer Avenue and Lake Street, and issued a 31-year-old woman a citation for driving without an operators license.
Sept. 22
An officer at 3:39 a.m. was out for a probation search at East End Road and Bear Creek Road, and arrested a 45-year-old man on a probation violation. He was taken to the Homer Jail.
A caller at 2:48 p.m. reported that a vehicle had jumped a curb on East Pioneer Avenue and run over the caller’s grass, rocks and bricks. An officer contacted the driver.
A caller at 6:12 p.m. reported information about drugs on the Homer Bypass. An officer went to the scene.
A caller at 8:35 p.m. reported suspicious activity near a business on Ocean Driver and requested an escort to their vehicle. An officer went to the scene and escorted the caller.
Sept. 23
A caller at 4:57 p.m. reported a hit and run on Greatland Street. An officer went to the scene and found the incident was going to be handled civilly.
Sept. 24
An officer at 1:58 a.m. attempted to make a traffic stop on Kachemak Drive, but the driver did not stop. Officers put out a be on the lookout notice on the vehicle.
An officer at 10:07 a.m. contacted a vehicle that the Alaska State Troopers had passed on a REDDI report of, stating officers should be on the lookout for the vehicle in the Homer area. The officer noted no impairment.
A person at 11:42 a.m. went to the police station to request a welfare check on a family member. The family member was contacted, and all was found to be OK.
A caller at 4:12 p.m. reported a suspicious man with an axe at Bunnell Avenue and Ohlson Lane. An officer went to the area.
A person at 7:54 p.m. made a 911 call to report that a firearm was accidentally discharged at a home on Landing Street. An officer went to the scene.
Sept. 25
An agency at 1:47 a.m. reported an assault after the fact that happened on East Pioneer Avenue. Officers went to the scene.
A caller at 2:04 p.m. reported a shoplifter in custody on Lake Street. An officer went to the area.
A driver at 6:32 p.m. was warned for speed on East End Road. An over sized load permit check was performed.
A caller at 9:32 p.m. reported unsafe conditions in a residential area on Ben Walters Lane. Officers went to the scene.
Sept. 26
An agency at 2:20 a.m. relayed information on a suicidal person on West Pioneer Avenue. Officers and medics went to the scene and a man was transported to the hospital.
A person at 8:15 a.m. made a 911 call and reported that she had grazed a moose on East End Road and Pennock Road, and that the moose had run away. She was advised about the report form for car crashes.
A person at 4:18 p.m. made a 911 call and reported a verbal disturbance on the Homer Bypass. An officer went to the scene, but the incident didn’t rise to the level of a crime.
A caller at 6:36 p.m. reported a hit and run after the fact on East Fairview Avenue. The caller was given a case number.
A caller at 8:36 p.m. reported that a dog was attacking his chickens and that he was at the animal shelter with the dog. An officer went to the shelter to secure the dog for the night.
A caller at 9:10 p.m. reported a man sleeping at a business on Heath Street. An officer went to the business and the man left without incident.
Sept. 27
A caller at 12:13 a.m. reported a vehicle in the ditch at West Hill Road and Seascape Drive. Officers went to the scene and arrested a 20-year-old man for driving under the influence. The vehicle was removed from the scene.
A caller at 4:15 a.m. reported a man sleeping in his business on Heath Street. An officer went to the scene and issued the man a trespass notice to keep him from the building for the evening.
Troopers
Sept. 21
Alaska State Troopers at 1:49 a.m. responded to the Ninilchik area to investigate a report of one male chasing another male with a vehicle. Ensuing investigation into the situation resulted in the arrest of Caleb Brubaker, age 24 of Ninilchik, for assault in the third degree and reckless driving. Brubaker was transported to Wildwood Pretrial Facility and remanded without bail.

Tyler C. McKeague, 26, charge dismissed, leaving the scene of an accident. He pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. He was fined $2,000 with $500 suspended and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 27 days suspended; ordered to pay $75 to support the Police Training Fund, a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended and the $198 cost of imprisonment; ordered to attend an alcohol safety action program and install an ignition interlock device; had his driver’s license revoked for 90 days; and was placed on probation for one year.
Ronald P. James, 24, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. He was fined $2,000 with $500 suspended and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 27 days suspended; ordered to pay $75 to support the Police Training Fund, a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended and the $198 cost of imprisonment; ordered to attend an alcohol safety action program and install an ignition interlock device; had his driver’s license revoked for 90 days; was ordered to pay restitution in an amount to be determined; and was placed on probation for one year.
Zachary S. Simmons, 25, pleaded guilty to a count of fourth-degree theft. He was fined $150 with nothing suspended; and ordered to pay restitution in an amount to be determined and $50 to support the Police Training Fund.
Sharlene Crumley, 46, pleaded guilty to a count of reckless driving. He was fined $1,000 with nothing suspended and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 30 days suspended; ordered to pay $50 to support the Police Training Fund and a $100 suspended jail surcharge; had his drivers license revoked for 30 days; and was placed on probation for one year.
Jack L. Bennett, 38, pleaded guilty to driving with license canceled, revoked or suspended for a DUI. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail with 10 days suspended; ordered to pay $50 to support the Police Training Fund and a $100 suspended jail surcharge; and placed on probation for one year.
