Bunnell Street Arts Center announced a new grant opportunity for Alaska artists this week, funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation’s Regional Regranting Program.
According to a press release from the center, the Ursa Major Fund will support “Artist-led, risk-taking, public-facing projects that inspire curiosity, engagement, dialogue and respect for cultural integrity” and the independent, self-organized work of artists, small groups and collaborators playing a crucial role within Alaska’s cultural ecosystem.”
Grants will empower artists to create artwork that “engages their communities and experiments with new possibilities.”
Bunnell will award a total of $60,000 through 15 grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. Applications will open Sept. 1 and close Oct. 31. Submissions will be assessed by a panel of jurors, primarily from outside Alaska. Awardees will be announced in early 2026.
Bunnell will host information sessions on the Ursa Major Fund leading up to the application opening in September. The first information session is scheduled for March 8 in Anchorage from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Nave on 3502 Spenard Road.
More information will become available online as the Ursa Major Fund’s website, application and resources continue to develop. You can follow @bunnellarts online or visit bunnellarts.org to stay connected. Questions can be directed to Asia Freeman at asia@bunnellarts.org.
