The Homer Police Department invites the public to “Dunk the Fuzz,” a charity drive for the Homer Special Olympics. The fundraising event is 10 a.m.-6 p.m. May 11 at the Homer High School lower parking lot with a dunk tank and go-cart rides. State and city officials, police and troopers will be sitting over the dunk tank during the day. For a donation, people will have a chance to throw balls at the dunk tank and try to get volunteers wet.

Also for a donation, police officers will give rides in the Alaska Cab go-cart with fatal vision goggles. With officers as passengers, drivers will try to drive the go-cart wearing goggles that simulate impaired vision from being drunk. The go-cart has been used at schools to show the dangers of drunk driving. All proceeds from the fundraiser support the Homer Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, to be held starting at 10 a.m. May 18.

The Antique Auto Mushers of Alaska and the Alaska Model A Club sponsor an Antique Auto and Classic Car show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 19 at the Wells Fargo parking lot. More than 20 Ford Model A and other classic cars from Anchorage, Homer and elsewhere on the Kenai Peninsula will be featured. Admission is free.

Pratt Museum
Regular hours are Tuesdays through Sundays, noon to 5 p.m. “Encounters: Whales in Our Waters” is on exhibit until July 21. At 5 p.m. May 17, Nancy Lord and Janet Klein present “Belugas and People: Their Cook Inlet History Together.” Both have explored and written about the endangered Cook Inlet beluga whales.
The museum seeks people to volunteer time and energy this summer. People of all ages can offer their volunteer services to enhance the quality of experience visitors have at the museum. If you enjoy interacting with people and have two to four hours a week to spare, the museum invites you to join its team of volunteers.
