Homer Police

Aug. 7

A caller at 9:09 a.m. reported that a vehicle had backed into their vehicle at the Homer Bypass and Heath Street. An officer went to the scene and parties exchanged information.

An officer at 11:12 a.m. was flagged down by a man who reported a suspicious circumstance at Forest Glen Drive and April Place. The officer went to the area.

A person at 11:24 a.m. made a 911 call about a man slumped over the wheel of a vehicle on the Homer Bypass. An officer went to the location and found that the man was taking a nap.

A person at 12:15 p.m. made a 911 call to report a man thrashing around in the bushes at Waddell Street and Crittenden Drive. An officer contacted the man, who refused assistance and said he was OK.

A caller at 4:30 p.m. reported a motor vehicle accident at Lake Street and East End Road. An officer went to the scene, and a man was summonsed for not having insurance.

A caller at 11:19 p.m. reported multiple skateboarders in the roadway on the Bypass. An officer contacted them.

Aug. 8

A caller at 8:53 a.m. requested a welfare check on a man on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the scene, contacted the man and advised him to move along.

A caller at 12:19 p.m. reported a man pacing in the roadway on West Fairview Avenue, possibly upset, and requested a welfare check. An officer went to the scene and found all was OK.

A caller at 4:30 p.m. reported a shoplifter in custody on Lake Street. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 8:24 p.m. reported vehicles parking in the roadway and possibly camping on Ocean Drive Loop. An officer went to the scene but was unable to locate them.

Aug. 9

Officers at 12:10 a.m. assisted medics on West Danview Avenue.

A caller at 8:45 a.m. reported a motor home parked for several days in the same location on Beluga Place. The driver was advised to move along.

A person at 1:14 p.m. made a 911 call to report a fight in progress on Spit Road. Officers and emergency medical services went to the scene.

A caller at 2:56 p.m. reported an assault on Bonanza Avenue. An officer went to the scene.

An officer at 2:33 p.m. warned a driver for failing to stop before entering a roadway on Spit Road.

A person at 7:20 p.m. made a Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately 911 call, to report a driver speeding and tailgating. An officer went to the area.

An officer at 11:41 p.m. arrested a man for driving under the influence, and he was housed at the Homer Jail.

Aug. 10

A caller at 7:05 a.m. reported suspicious activity during the night at their business on Spit Road. An officer went to the area.

A caller at 3:06 p.m. asked for a trespass notice for people fishing on private property on Spit Road. An officer contacted the people.

Aug. 11

A caller at 12:30 a.m. reported noise coming from a bar on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer found the report was unfounded.

A caller at 4:50 p.m. reported possible fishing violations at Mile 3 Spit Road. An officer went to the area.

A caller at 10:59 p.m. reported shooting a black bear after it got to his chickens and acted aggressive toward him, on Mission Avenue. The bear had rolled down a hill and went into the woods.

Aug. 12

A caller at 12:30 p.m. reported a vehicle speeding and doing doughnuts on the beach near pedestrians near Beluga Place. An officer went to the area, but the vehicle was gone on arrival.

A caller at 5:12 p.m. reported an intoxicated man in the restroom on Hazel Avenue. An officer went to the area.

An officer at 8 p.m. assisted medics at Easy Street and Treeline Way.

A caller at 9:11 p.m. made a REDDI report of a black sedan with Oregon plates passing on a double yellow line inbound to Homer. An officer contacted the vehicle.

Aug. 13

A caller at 1:12 a.m. requested assistance with a disorderly patron on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the scene.

A driver at 12:12 p.m. was warned for failing to signal before entering the roadway on the Homer Bypass.

A caller at 12:37 p.m. reported suspicious behavior in a parking lot on East End Road. An officer responded to the location and found a vehicle parked and unoccupied.

A caller at 2:12 p.m. made a REDDI report on a vehicle on the Homer Bypass. An officer contacted the driver and no impairment was noted.

Aug. 14

A caller at 11:57 p.m. reported passing by a school with lights on and seeing someone running into the school on West Soundview Avenue. Officers went to the scene.

A caller at 6:31 a.m. reported a dead moose on the side of the road at Mile 168 Sterling Highway. An officer went to the scene and a charity responded.

A caller at 1:16 p.m. reported a shoplifter at a business on Lake Street. An officer went to the location and a man was arrested for concealment of merchandise and was issued a trespass advisement for life from the business.

An officer at 10:20 p.m. warned a driver for expired tags on Ocean Driver and Brown Bear Loop.

Troopers

Aug. 9

Alaska State Troopers at 4:19 p.m. responded to a “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaint of a drive in Ninilchik. Troopers stopped a 47-year-old Ninilchik woman and arrested her for driving under the influence.
