Three directors were elected to Homer Electric Association’s board during the utility’s Wednesday annual meeting in Kenai.
Dan Chay of Kenai won the race for District 1; Soldotna’s Ed Oberts was elected to District 2; and incumbent Bill Fry of Homer was re-elected to his District 3 seat.
Chay received 651 votes to candidate Glenese Pettey’s 420 votes in District 1, which covers Kenai, Nikiski and parts of Kasilof and Soldotna.
In District 2, which covers Soldotna, Sterling and Kasilof, Oberts received 569 votes, Mike Swan had 390 votes, Barbara Blakeley had 330 votes, and Jackie Ray Morrell had 65 votes.
Fry had 1,060 votes to Kris Lethin’s 377 votes in District 3, which runs from south Kasilof to the Kachemak Bay area.
The board of directors then met to elect officers for the coming year. Soldotna’s Dick Waisanen was selected to serve as president, Fry was named vice president, David Thomas of Kenai was named secretary/treasurer and Jim Levine of Homer will be deputy secretary.
