“Alive Inside,” a documentary film about the power of music, won the Forget-Me-Not Audience Favorite Award for the 11th annual Homer Documentary Film Festival. “Internet’s Own Boy” won the Bald Eagle Best Director Award and “This Ain’t No Mouse Music” won the Horned Puffin Grand Jury Prize. The audience favorite award was voted on through anonymous comment cards filled out at each showing. Comments on the nine films will be forwarded to the filmmakers, Homer Theatre owner Jamie Sutton said.
Sutton noted the parallel one audience member drew between “This Ain’t No Mouse Music,” about roots music icon Chris Strachwitz, and “Alive Inside.”
“(It’s) interesting to show this movie in the same fest as ‘Alive Inside,’ one about the soul in music and the other about music in our soul,” the person wrote.
