The Homer Hockey Association Bantams and their families are hosting the Annual Alaska State Hockey Association’s Bantam Tier III State Championship at the Kevin Bell Arena on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Ten Bantam hockey teams from around Alaska will make their way to Homer and compete in what is an annual event. This is the first time ever that a tournament this large will be held in Homer, organizers said in a press release.
Players are from birth years 1999 and 2000 and teams are composed of both young men and women. Games will be played in a round robin format with 2 divisions. Crossovers and Championship Games will be held on Monday with an exhibition game played by the Homer Hockey Association’s youngest players to take place just prior to the 3 p.m. championship.
This tournament is supported by businesses from all facets of the Homer community. The Kevin Bell Ice Arena is one of only four-association owned, volunteer-run rinks in the United States.
